Hinckley Civic Society is backing the campaign to get Arriva to improve the rail service through Hinckley. Our vice-chairman has written to Arriva urging them to increase the number of trains calling at Hinckley Station. We also need to increase the number services that interconnect with Hinckley trains at Nuneaton and Leicester by lobbying Virgin Trains and Midland Mainline.

Being as the Department of Transport are spending millions of pounds to upgrade the train line through Hinckley they will want to get value for money and demand that the line is well used. Arriva will presumably have to increase the number of trains to make it viable
I understand the upgrade of the line is to allow more container traffic to be able to use the line for access to the West Coast Main line via a new spur at Nuneaton. This may lead to fewer passenger trains using the line. Maybe the new company should improve the timing of it's existing trains to avoid the late running and cancelled trains that seem a daily feature since they took over the operation. At the moment they seem to be forcing us into cars especially in the mornings.
